Among the many values espoused by U.S. Companies, according to Watson (2003), the following are some of the most common: Honesty, respect, service, excellence, integrity (as cited in Manning & Curtis, 2021).
However, various studies have found that individuals are possibly attracted in the first place to organizations with similar values (Schwartz, 1992)…”versus their values being influenced or changed by the organization’s espoused values” according to Adams et al., 2011 (as cited in Gordon-Valdez 2016, p. 47).
The latter studies support the idea that it is important for companies to have written company values and make sure their employees share these values and are trained in them.
