13 Jan Week 8 Discussion
Please no plagiarism and make sure you are able to access all resources on your own before you bid. Main references come from Neukrug, E. S., & Fawcett, R. C. (2015) and/or Encyclopedia of Counseling (2017). You need to have scholarly support for any claim of fact or recommendation regarding treatment. APA format also requires headings. Use the prompt each week to guide your heading titles and organize the content of your initial post under the appropriate headings. Remember to use scholarly research from peer-reviewed articles that are current. I have attached scoring sheet and test results, so you can see how to make full points. Please follow the instructions to get full credit for the discussion. I need this completed by 01/14/20 at 4pm.
DISCUSSION POSTS— For your Main discussion posts, I require that all posts be a MINIMUM of 250 words. The main post must contain a minimum of two (2) different references from a peer reviewed journal or scholarly book or scholarly website. It is a good idea to use your Learning Resources each week. Wikipedia does not count as a scholarly website since the information is not validated.
Discussion – Week 8

Mini Mental State Exam
What is it like to be assessed? For this Discussion, you take the role of a client and experience taking the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE). As you go through this experience, consider what it feels like to be assessed, and to be a client. You will also complete the Jung Typology Test and reflect on your results. You will post your reflections and insights.
To Prepare:
- Review the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) video program in the Learning Resources for this week.
- Complete the Mini Mental Status Exam on blank paper by responding as if you are the client. Record all your answers.
- Retrieve the Folstein Scoring Sheet from this week’s resources and score your answers, noting that you actually completed two tasks that were similar, (i.e., math and spelling (maximum possible score of 5 for each section). You are to use the higher of those two sections to include in the total score.
- Take the Jung Typology assessment online. Score your answers and save your results.
By Day 3 of Week 8
- In 1-2 paragraphs, share what the experience was like to be asked the questions in the Mini Mental State Exam. It seemed to be pretty easy.
- Describe what it was like to answer the questions, your thoughts as you went through the exam, and how you reflected on your final MMSE score. I felt the questions were easy to answer. I was thinking that how is this a mental state exam. My score was 29 because I felt like I didn’t recall the 3 words in the order that it was given.
- What was it like to take the Jung assessment online? Do you feel that it describes you? Some of the questions I was like unsure on how to answer because I felt like it depend on the situation on how I would answer. I do feel like it describe me for the most part but I don’t feel like I am judging.
- What insights did you gain in terms of how it felt to be assessed? With the MMSE I was comfortable but with the Jung assessment I more uncomfortable because I felt like the choices were not what I would pick.
- How do you imagine clients may react? I think clients would find the Jung more difficult than the MMSE.
Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources. Identify current relevant literature to support your work.
