This is the first of two assignments for the Eukaryota Brochure. This one consists of your first submission and your completing two peer reviews. The second will be your final version that will be graded by your TA.
Choose a Eukaryotic species, group, or lineage and create a brochure highlighting the aspects of these organisms that would make it most attractive for a “visitor”. I suggest you start with your book, wikipedia, or the Tree of Life website to get an idea of the group of organisms that you want to work on. Make sure you don’t pick a prokaryote.
For example your brochure might present:
A sketch or photo of the organism with its parts labeled
Reproduction, feeding, life cycle
Diseases it might cause
Where it fits phylogenetically on the tree of life relative to other organisms
Genome information
Etc.
You must have at least two primary literature (scientific articles from peer reviewed scientific journals) referenced in a cited works section. I suggest using the UVU Library, Google Scholar, or PubMed to find scientific articles. In addition to these two, also cite other sources you used, like books, webpages, etc.
Submit your pamphlet (2 pages — Front and back) using a common file type like powerpoint, word, or PDF.
Once you have submitted your pamphlet you will be assigned two students work that you must review. Reviews are due the Wednesday after the first draft is due. You will then have the opportunity to resubmit your pamphlet based on the feedback.
